What Are Death's Odds Poem by RoseAnn V. Shawiak

What Are Death's Odds

Looking around, cars going down the streets, people in them
going to their destinations, usually in a hurry, some making
it alright, others not so lucky, being hurt or dying.

What are the odds of death touching our lives on any given
day? Is there something we can do to stop death from stalk-
ing us relentlessly?

How does death decide when a person needs to be taken from
this temporary world? Wondering constantly how it's being
done.

Now knowing that scientists have found the gene that turns
the switch from life to death, figuring out what or if it
can be switched off permanently.

Allowing people to live forever, wonder if it'll happen while
this poet's still here writing poetry to music, wanting to
know everything, being curious all through this earthly life.
