Wearing Masks Poem by RoseAnn V. Shawiak

Wearing Masks

Hurrying through ancient songs,
wanting to be free and at liberty
to be whoever I seem to be to
everyone else.

Wearing masks, taking the time to
keep hiding away.

Turning away from anyone looking
to find out about me.

Stalkers, keeping track of me,
hurting me in the end with a failure
of being honest, open and truthful
in our friendship.

Lying, omitting the truth, keeping
me in the dark just to abuse in ways
torturing my soul with an intense
pain.

Ripping apart my very soul and
never caring one iota for me.
