We Walked On Fences Poem by Cynthia Buhain-baello

We Walked On Fences

We were rambunctious
Daring, so carefree,
Nothing was perilous
With our youth's curiosity

We walked on fences
Crossed bubbling streams
And came home with leeches
But were living our dreams.

Those days were discoveries
Nurturing imagination,
We enjoyed nature's bounties
And frolicked with creation.

Stored childhood memories
Are treasures in my mind
The nucleus of my poetry
Core ideas that I find.
