We Once Had Been Poem by Julia Boon

We Once Had Been

Who we once had been,
So many horrible things we had seen,
We are gone now, forever
Changed and never,
To be the same,
Again.

Our hearts had opened, and our eyes now could see,
All the bad things, the roar of the banshee.
We fell to the ground, tears in our eyes,
So many lies.
We were beaten and broken,
So many things left unspoken.
We could have cursed the sky,
Wished we could just die.
But no, we would not let go.
So now, though our trials and marches that lasted miles,
We are gone now, forever
Changed and never,
To be the same,
Again.
