We Are Friends Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

We Are Friends

We are friends

We are friends, sit and talk
They are all of same pond
I am not
I am little “black fish”.

Most of times, I smile
If agree, if do not
They’re in dark
I absorb what I must

Let’s say not “I know much.”
Of ocean where whale is;
(Not of their shallow pond)
I listen patiently; we all laugh.

I join them in their while
If this is, what they want
We’re friends, so I must
Bear with them, be polite.

There are times they mention
Things needle my flesh
They spit with good heart
The things that, they should not

I like that they don’t hide
Simple are like peacock
I say none; as heard not
In this way I learn lot

With patience, forgiveness
I digest; judge them right
We’re friends; that is what
“Give and take” must abide.
