Warm Paraíso Nights Poem by Nika McGuin

Warm Paraíso Nights

Rating: 5.0

The nights in Paraíso
have their own distinct charm
warm and dark, comforting
They are like rich mayan chocolate.
Their sound - lively and discordant,
filled with music and bits of chatter -
blankets itself about me, sweeping into my ears
crashing abruptly; like obsidian waves
onto the shores of my loneliness
dragging away the tiny granules of sand
still... my vessel lies, adrift on the islet

Lovely poem, Nika. You evoke images with sight, sound, and taste. I really liked the rich Mayan chocolate line. Thanks for posting.
