War Poem by Madeleine Wolf

War

Rating: 5.0

What do you think
It could bring?
This war, I mean.
It definitely brings a scene
Of pain, loss, and suffering.

You think he’ll come back
In one piece and unscathed?
I truly pray
He’ll be okay,
Even if in blood he bathed.

I don’t want to think about war,
but he’ll always be in my heart.
I’ll always care
And be aware
Of that space when we’re apart.

What do you think
It could bring?
This war, I mean.
It definitely brings a scene
Of pain, loss, and suffering.

War is like a violent beast.
It growls out loud,
And swings a paw
As it grabs a man with its claw.
The animal brings awe to a crowd.

At first, we think it will have benefits,
And that its end result will be good.
It will liberate
Those people stuck under that weight.
At least, it should.

What do you think
It could bring?
This war, I mean.
It definitely brings a scene
Of pain, loss, and suffering.

So, you could look at it with hope,
Through rose-colored glasses,

But it will make so many cry
As all those young men die.
Red will run over the grasses.

What could you expect?
You can pretend
That our men didn't fall
It that bloody brawl.
Your ignorance I can’t even comprehend.

What do you think
It could bring?
This war, I mean.
It definitely brings a scene
Of pain, loss, and suffering.
If you foresaw this effect,
Then you were correct.

Very sad words pieced together so well. One war ends and another ready to take charge now with chemical weapons. I thank you Madeleine for this is excellent and one I would love to save. If only these dictators could wake up and accept that we all just want to live
