Walls Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Walls

Walls

Visited, leaned on walls
-around me stood walls
-could hear talk of walls

"We are built on trust."
"We are built on trust."
"We are built on trust."

A woman:
- "I loved him, gave my all."

Said the man:
- "She cheated day and night."

Came police officers
-in handcuffs accused, and shackled

Music of the shoes
-of high-heel to the boots
-staged the operas; in making:

"We are built on trust."
"We are built on trust."
"We are built on trust."

Confused audience
-veered, seated on benches
-law-clerk and typist in murmurs
-to right of defender sat Crown, at table

In front of us all
-a place for the judge

And there were two boxes
-one reserved for witness
-other, house for victims

Laughed the walls:
"We are built on trust."
"We are built on trust."
"We are built on trust."
