Walk At Sunset Poem by Tony Elsby (Poems of life and love)

Walk At Sunset

I walked wth you on virgin sand,
The power of the sea becalmed,
We wandered through a hundred dreams,
My mind so deeply charmed.

You told of a love that wrenched at your heart,
And squeezed til the last beat was his,
Then recalled how the curtain fell, smothering joy,
And how tears piled their salt on your lips.

You wondered if feelings would ever return,
And if the salt in the sea was all yours,
And you said it would seem like betrayal
If other blossomed orchards were explored.

And as we walked on, the miles soon were gone,
As all of our troubles unfurled
But as we shed all those cares, quite unawares,
We stepped right off the edge of the world.
