Waking Up Alone... Poem by Laura Anne

Waking Up Alone...

No, not now…
Not yet, please.
Shaking my head….
Refusing, I don't want to wake up
Leave everything,
all those pleasant images, all these amazing feelings
behind in my dreams
but I have to.

I open my eyes…
slowly
to the darkened room
Curled up in a big empty bed
with nothing but pillows and blankets all around me
with only more cold to lean against
Instead of your arms wrapping around me.

Without feeling the heat
the need
radiating desire, comfort, safety, passion
and love of you next to me.

Laying there in the dim
finally my eyes open
completely but reluctantly
not wanting to grasp
the cold truth:
Waking up alone, is a very lonely place
