Voice Muted Poem by Sharad Rajimwale

Voice Muted

My pen has been lying mute
on top of a sheet as blank
as the conscience of the world
for days and so many days.

Words are hard to come by
thoughts refuse to leave their
nebulous, anarchist world,
speechless I look at the blank sheet
and the pen, and think hard
how to configure my ideas
and emotions into words.

The world outside flows out
like lava from a spluttering
crater, searing every notion
of free expression.

The world inside is raging in heat
like some mythical barren and bleak blasted heath...
all is blank, void and empty.

What is more articulate these days
than the complete absence of voice
and words?

Let the paper remain blank
and the pen quiet beside it!
