Veins Poem by Roger Gerald Hicks

Veins

Rating: 4.0

Water so hot
scalding at first
now I'm shivering
the bright razor
shiny
sharp
when I laid it
on the tub edge, now
rusting slashed just one wrist,
not deeply no pain
then started fantasizing
instead pipe-beat-her to death
hurt like
she done me that started
thoughts 'bout them three kids
who would care for them
would they suicide
one by one there isn't
that much blood
cut's shallow
scar'll hardly show
but someone will ask...
Cat, I'll say
