Usa Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Usa

USA, I hate you because of Washington
But love you
Thanks to friends, (and people)
Example goes like this:

Spring fair in Texas
I was there
(A young man in late teens)

Behind me
“Stupid; ... stupid, ”
A voice said

I played
Shooting balls to bottles
“Win a prize”
Whom was she talking to?

She went on
“Stupid; ... stupid, ”
I turned back, (had frown)

“Is that me? ”
I questioned
“Sure of course; ” she replied.

In a week
Holding cake, at her door
I was there; (and entered)

Pregnant, a leftist, human
She’s become my teacher
She taught me ‘pain is global’

“Washington and Moscow are selfish like eagles
They keep fight with our blood till one falls.”
Five decades has gone by, she’s always in my mind
‘...thank you my lady, thank you USA’
