Unexpectedly Wanting Poem by Reylan Loberternos

Unexpectedly Wanting

Rating: 5.0

I never thought I’d ever feel this way
Neither did I expect, nor dare to dream
‘Cause you’re just too high from where I lay
An impossible desire for me you seem

Life itself indeed is a mystery
At times easy, at times utterly enigmatic
You can bask and live it in reverie
But you can never keep it from being sporadic

Oh well, nothing in life is certain
Just as when you came bolt from the blue
A lowly creature you reached felt heaven
But doubted if your feelings were true

Then all of a sudden, it hit me
You broke through my armor
I asked myself, “How could it be? ”
Do I deserve this godly splendor?

Nobody knows what the future brings
Or where all this will lead us
Will it ever offer us a lifelong bliss?
Or will it only be a chip of our future’s past?

I tried to prevent myself but failed to believe
That distance and diversity couldn’t keep us from loving
So here I am now, waiting in joyous grief
As I surprisingly find myself unexpectedly wanting
