Unanswered Prayers Poem by Randy McClave

Unanswered Prayers

I saw the lassie standing over there
She once long ago was my request in a prayer,
But, that of course was so very long ago
As now her head is covered with snow.
Right over there is where she stood
I remember still thinking once was she any good,
Every night when I was younger for her I would pray
As I was wanting God to send her my way.
She was the most beautiful creature that I had even seen
I still remember thinking about her as a teen,
Every night unto God I would always send a request
Please give her to me and I'll be the very best.
She then came over to me and then we conversed
Every word from her beautiful lips were literally cursed,
Every twinkle in her eye was just a plot
To use and to steal and to take and to never be caught.
I told her about the beautiful woman that I did wed
And the great life that her and I have led,
She told me of the men she married and the men she left
And her every commitment was a blotched heart committed theft.
She was beautiful and kind on the outside, but that was it
Upon the suffering of others she would always spit,
A good person I then realized she was always portraying
While on my knees for years for her to God I was praying.
She then looked at me and then she waved goodbye
I happily gave her a nod as I gratefully breathed a thankful sigh,
I then thought about her and the traps and snares
Then I thanked God, for all the unanswered prayers.
