Ubroken Promise Poem by Chiazo Egbukwu

Ubroken Promise

Rating: 3.5

Reflecting deep into this,
My periodic pen prays I never start.
It reflects the goodness of our glorious bliss
And separates our hatred several distance apart.

Flashing back those pleasing old stories
Of broken masked memories
Of our untold unceasing glories
When we defiled these mysteries
Behind our defeated dreams, without hope.

About those beautiful beginning
When we vowed to remain undefiled
Before the sins of the flesh kept knocking
On our “hallowed promise”, now wrecked.

When their envious
Eyes forced us out of town
To another undesirable
Tent that makes obvious
Our miserable
State. They planned to pocket our destined crown.
They prayed our joy to never be.
Yes, the fate within our faith had kept us stronger
And the laws of Karma had kept us this longer.

But this conviction we shall always hold
On our path
And wish our hatred goes back to death.
