Twist Poem by Hirushi Jayasekera

Twist

Expecting the unexpected is often
Exepected, when life twists itself
Around a tree and disappears from view
Hiding the expected, perhaps
With unexpected glory
Or worse.

And yet the anticipation lies
In search of finding the bend
Which least to do, does twist
And open a whole new world
of paradise

and twist it still to say that
it bends unexpectedly further still,
to find yourself in the midst
of acquaintances ‘well made’ today
and live for the day. For tomorrow yields
an unexpected new, dull, perspective

or twist further
and find unexpected that
some do care more than expected…
shocking; but truth to learn:
never be confined to think one is.

Take a right, or left as you please
Life may not be simple – but it’s worth a twist.
