Night Poem by Hirushi Jayasekera

Night

Rating: 5.0

Imagine…
Under the canopy of a single tree
Hands rest on my knees
The lake glistens, sparkles of the night sky mirrored
Back upward on its velvet surface
On which the shimmers a shooting star
Its tail light a streak of gold skimming the smooth, tranquil water
Eyelids fall, make a wish
As stardust spinkles the lake truly magical
Nights breeze blows through the hair, chimes the leaves gently
Picking quavers soft harmonious melodies soothing
Mild chill warms as eyes twinkle in half moonlight
Watch the trees on opposite bank reflected in water
Feet warm guarded in grass below the carpet of small pink flowers
Calm a swan slides slow sending mirrored willows rippling gently
Her feet waddle steadily in tempo to relaxed breathing
Fresh air, crisp and damp fill and leave with all troubles
Disappear to this silent night of July
One to one with nature
You're not alone
Remember that.
