Twilight Years Poem by Colin Ian Jeffery

Twilight Years

Twilight years slow the blood but not the mind
And still I have memories, good and bad
Some grieving the heart for loved ones lost
Decisions made that led down wrong paths
Where lost I wandered through shadowy forests.
Time then paused, journey of misery and tears
With things happening that shamed the soul.
Good paths taken with lovers, passions thrilling
With one special lover who reigns supreme
Enthroned and royal, secret within my heart.
Now, pain from anthric bones plague the day
And eyesight grow dimmer with twilight years.
I hear Death's footsteps coming ever closer
Resolute in my faith to the promise of Jesus Christ.
