Truce Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Truce

Truce

Hey Arabs of Hejaz
-come sit in the front
-and let us speak wise.

Let us sign treaty
-include everything
-manly and peacefully.

I give you what is yours
-you return what is mine.

Then, we live side by side
-with, without borderline.

I return your Allah and Islam
-you take back your words that
-have entered in my tongue…

I remove whatever is from your culture
-and somehow entered mine with your faith.

I will go and settle deep in my palaces
-you give back the looted, including carpets.

I will dance, drink wine, celebrate
-you go back, drink milk of camel.

I plant the trees of fruits everywhere
-you stick to rare palms and their dates.

If ever I come and see your area
-treat me as you should, and I must;
- "Guest, neighbour deserves best
-of shelter, reception and kindness."

Let us put an end to this nonsense:
- "As Arab and Muslim, I am the Caliphate."

Let us sit like mankind and sign some treaties
-hones and with respect, unlike what did Brits
-with chiefs of the true landowners; Indigenous!
