Trees Poem by Colin Ian Jeffery

Trees

Rating: 5.0

What greater marvel
Than trees
Leaves whispering in the breeze
Shade against the sun
Home for nesting birds
Squirrels and climbing wildlife.

Trees are the planet's lungs
Giving oxygen keeping us alive
Jungles, forests and woodlands
Precious jewels in a country's crown
Inheritance for the future
So life continues for all species.

Humanity cuts down trees
Burning making grazing land
Building towns and cities
Forest living animals destroyed
Trees gone with less oxygen
Planet's lungs getting smaller.

Trees are the planet's life-line
Without them there is no survival
Life for humanity will be no more
Thousands of trees cut down daily
Money put before our future
No more oxygen keeping us breathing.
