Treasured B.S. Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Treasured B.S.

Whether liberal or conservative.
Or to swerve to the left,
From the right to spew nonsense.
Representing the intelligence of an elephant.
Or that of a jackass.
All claiming to be patriotic.
By pledging allegiance.
To Betsy Ross and her flag.
Depicting blood that flows,
Down the arms of those white.
Heroically fighting amongst themselves.
Under stars twinkling bright.
To rest and lay,
On amber colored waves of grain.
As buffalos around them roam.
Home.
Home on the range.
Where the deer,
And the antelope played.
Peacefully.
Without a word of discouragement heard.
This..
Had to inspire Norman Rockwell.

And yet as time passes,
Corruption with us is trusted.
Leaving minds bankrupted.
To protect and defend,
Racism, division and decisions made.
That a keeping of a treasured,
Blatant shenanigans and massive fraud...
Best represents,
Those standards of life kept to value.
