Transcending Existence Poem by JOBY JOHN

Transcending Existence

(Dedicated to Dr. Miguel Nicolelis)

Soul and will are now under the question
The question questions the consciousness
The consciousness, that resides in limitedness
Seeks the transcending existence in the cloud
Here comes a man with a monkey's brain
And now the machine thinks like the monkey
If that machine turns into man, no wonder
Simple to the complex is the brain
And now complex turns to confusion in the machine
"Where are the souls and the will? " I cried
"Merely stimulated Neurochemicals in the neurons?
No…no…no…why try a sudden end? "
Yesterday monkey turns into a machine
Today no report further
Tomorrow where am I? In the cloud?
"Define me now
Who am I?
Am I merely CNS cum PNS? "
I repeated the questions day and night
"Where are religion, salvation, and God?
What is my existence if there is death? " I asked.
These questions broke the silence of my heart
And echoed in the disturbance
"Who sees what I see and thinks over my thoughts?
If I am mere energy and impulse,
To what extent does my transformation extend? "
I found no one with an answer or to stop thinking except death
"Can death stop me from what I am and ought to be? "
The thinking thing continues thinking
Until then the transcendental existence of my being becomes fulfilled.
