Torments Poem by Ivan Chizurum Ezeigbo

Torments

Sometimes when we are sad
All we need is someone to smile
Someone to play some music
Someone to sing us a song
Someone to pat our shoulder
It could be anybody
It could be the waiter
The gateman
The schoolboy on the field playing soccer
The constructor
It's all valuable
There can be no discrimination
It could be the very busy woman
Behind the stolid desk
Who gave up one second
To pass a smile
To quench a tormented heart
A troubled mind
To calm a tormented spirit
