Toppings Poem by Kent Krauss

Toppings

Some things may stand well on their own, being complete simply as they are
While others may need just the slightest embellishment to bring them up to par

Such as the sundae that isn't quite complete without the whipped cream on top

Or the novel that includes the epilogue, giving the story the final ending pop

Which hopefully is not the case, however, with the person with whom you share your life

As that person should mesh nicely with the various crenellations that are rife

In your personality, smoothing out the rough, accenting the plain, completing pictures
That need to be worked up as a team effort, eliminating too many overburdensome strictures
