Too Hard To Say Goodbye Poem by David Burton Richardson

Too Hard To Say Goodbye

Rating: 5.0

When time has passed upon life's lonely shore
And we look back to times no more
When black waves of deepest Sea
Come crashing and thrashing upon your door
When we look back and should have done more
It's just so hard to say goodbye
Darkness falls and silent black
Feels like thunder upon our back
And we wonder what life is for
Why oh why did i not say more?
Of life of love and feelings strong
How could I have been so wrong?
And now I face a life of pain
And words that should have been said
Time and time again
I watch the Birds and wish to fly
And it's just so hard to say goodbye
Sun will shine and rain will fall
And waves will roll upon that lonely shore
But I sit and wonder why
With tearful words, why oh why
What should have been can be no more
And life's flicker and feather flame
Becomes the light of eternal blame
I sit and think oh why oh why
As tears roll down my salt sand eyes
And it's just too hard to say goodbye.
