Too Close, But So Far Poem by Steven Rowe

Too Close, But So Far

Rating: 3.5

Overwhelmed by emotions,
My mind is stuck behind a thick haze.
The only person I see is strangely different than I remember her,
New, but perfect.

She hasn't changed.
But she is so different,
It is me that is no longer the same.

The new me is in love,
Not based on physical attractions,
Rather, a burning desire for her companionship.
She unscrews the cap to my heart,
filling it with all the happiness in the world.

Being far from her,
Unable to see,
Touch,
Feel her, presents no problems.

All I need is to hear her,
I know she will always be there.
She is someone special, a Mary Poppins of sorts:
Perfectly perfect in every way.

Through the haze I only see her figure,
But now she is clearer than before.
She is the one thing in my life I know I can't have.
