I looked at yesterday and I saw a child
Running
Jumping
Skipping
Almost flying
I beheld a child too passionate to be stopped
Too enthusiastic to be contained
A child in search to conquer a world in need of a conquest
I saw a child on a quest
Questioning the very questions that questioned his quest
I looked at tomorrow and I saw an adult sitting
Watching
Observing
Remembering
I saw an adult too scared to stand
Too scared to try again
An adult who one day dared to dream but had come to their someday where they feared to even sleep
I saw an adult weep
I saw an adult flip through the 'could bes' and the 'would bes' in the pages of their mind
I look at today and I realize we must all keep walking
Keep believing
Keep striving
Keep moving forward
Ah! Tell the child to get up when he falls
Oh! Tell the adult to shake off the regrets and stand up tall
Hand in hand
With the passion of the child and experience of the adult
We shall get to our 'there'
For yesterday and tomorrow exist not in isolation
