Tomorrow Again? ! Poem by Truth Osumareton Egbe

Tomorrow Again? !

The parched green and yellow grasses
The bright morning sun that seems to smile at semi-detached houses
The butterflies that dance rhythmically without care for the time on watches
The gentle wind that dries her brows and lashes
All go unnoticed to the eyes behind the glasses

The gratitude of the just escaped near- death-experience rat
The joy of the lady who just lost a pound of fat
The happy best friends that play on the mat
The smile-lit face of the artist putting finishing touches to his two-month-old art
Are all a sharp contrast to the state of her heart

The well of hurt and pain
That her clean heart did stain
Made her doubt if she was still sane
But there was little need to complain
For it was her who had disappointed herself again

The message her tear stained glasses did send
A meaning no psychologist needed to lend
After all the years on her strength she did depend
She no longer her life could mend
She had definitely reached her dead end

As the moon came out to say hello
And the street lights turned yellow
She realized what made her heart burn was not the sorrow
But the fact she had to face tomorrow

A tomorrow the choices of today had ruined
