The Truth About Lies Poem by Truth Osumareton Egbe

The Truth About Lies

It started as a suggestion
You took it, you owned it
You told them you were this; you told them you were that
It was not true but who knew?
Nobody found out, you thought you were safe
They bought it, believed it and thought that was who you were
It worked, you were amazed
You made good grades; you got the job; he liked you
It wasn't really hurting anyone - but you
The web you had allowed deceit to spin is gradually requiring more dedication
You try to tell someone but where do you start explaining from?
You built every single one of those bricks of lies with quality concrete and it has become too expensive to demolish
Now you are just spending all your time and resources living someone else's life
The person you created
