To Where Poem by Smoky Hoss

To Where

Rating: 5.0

We all are estranged to life
in ways far beyond ourselves,
no matter how persistently we wonder
it never forgives us for being.

Death is life's
double, vast,
metaphoric, unavoidably
cold.

At the edge of our universe
-as at the edge of night-
we come only to look back, and attempt understanding
in the dim light of long ago.

There may be no answers, nor even any worthy questions,
for in the final analysis it may come to be,
not what, why or how, rather only:
'to where? '.

Hey, Smoky! I’m not sure I get all what you’re saying in the first stanza, but I like this piece, like the wise use of wondering for things we can’t know empirically, the tone, the way it unfolds that fits well with its subject matter. Hoping this finds you well in body, soul, and spirit, Glen. P.S. Here’s wishing you a good resurrection day. -G

Death is life's double, vast and metaphoric truth. There may not be final question or answer of worthy nature. This poem is entirely very brilliant and excellently penned...0
