To Torment A Man Poem by Ernest Elliot Daka

To Torment A Man

Rating: 5.0

As I walk, I look ahead
There in front of me
I see She, smiling sweetly
She raises her hand in wave
I smile at She and wave back
I blink and look again at She
I look and see, She is gone

I dream and I dream
I dream like I'm ice, frozen
I dream I need warmth, I do
My life is going from cold
And now I dream, I see She
Aflame with fire, She comes
One touch from She and I live

A dream, again I dream
She, running to me gracefully
Her beauty, glorious all over
Her eyes twinkling like diamonds
Her arms astretch, full of love
I run too, for I must run to She
But look, I'm restrained, I cry for She

Now I must wish, I must wish
Closed eyes, closed brain, yeah
I wish She were here, I do wish
I'm lonely without She, I am
I wish She could touch me now
Touch my lips and whisper to
I wait She, whisper to me now

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I wrote this poem in 1992 for a woman I loved who lived in another town. I always needed her to be with me and quite oftenly dreamt of her. This poem captures one such dream.
