For The Love Of Her So Poem by Ernest Elliot Daka

For The Love Of Her So

There were many faces around
Handsome men of stature
Even pretty women of class
And I too, a man among men
But she saw neither me nor them
For she had eyes for one man only

She looked at him with pride
Her big beautiful sapphire eyes lit
And her mouth opened curly
Her big teeth were a pretty sight
She tried hard to speak to him
Instead she smiled at him in love

He was a manly pretty boy
His face was a tan brown but good
Small keen eyes and an African nose
His full lips gave him a smile always
The thick eyebrows a girl can covet
And he loved his mother like a goddess

He looked at the admiring woman
She could not avert her eyes from him
She was in love with him, her son
God had given him to her forever
She loved him so much and it showed
She was proud to be his mother

That noise! What is it saying now
It must be time for her to leave
It must be time for him to let her go
Why must she go away so far away
As tears welled in his eyes, he is sad
He looks away from her, from his mother

And she cries is her heart for her son
She must go now but will be back soon
Look at the wet big eyes crying for love
And she prays for her son in her heart
For she must be strong for him always
And the love of God must go with her
She will always love him, her son
Goodbye my love, goodbye my son!
