To The End Of Time (Villanelle) Poem by Gert Strydom

To The End Of Time (Villanelle)

To the end of time I would love you if I may
where I cannot stop it to love you
and in this New Year I miss you on every day,

where you read the words that I do say,
I would have you present in everything I do.
To the end of time I would love you if I may

and life would the utter beauty of living portray,
where to the principle of love I do remain true
and in this New Year I miss you on every day,

but your words and acts do me and my love flay,
and life seems dirty and now every day I do rue.
To the end of time I would love you if I may

but you do not want me in your life to stay,
where daily more heartache to me do accrue
and in this New Year I miss you on every day.

Gruesome and vile it feels as you do me betray
and what the new tomorrow holds I have no clue.
To the end of time I would love you if I may
and in this New Year I miss you on every day.
