To-Get-Her Poem by Yvette Sweet

To-Get-Her

Together – To-Get-Her

To-Get-Her he wined and dined her to enter sacred spaces between her ears. To be cleansed in mental waters that sometimes ran like mighty rapids and other times lay calm like babbling brooks. Together was the peaceful state of mind he was trying to find.

To-Get-Her he whispered gentle words to make her smile. This was a much for him as is it was for her because it warmed his soul as if he lay naked upon shores of the River Nile.

To-Get-Her he listened to silly jokes and hung on every word as if they were lifelines. He was always gentle-he was always kind.

To-Get-Her he was always on point bringing her flowers, candy, perfume and sometimes naughty little gifts that made her feel special as if no other woman could ever exist.

To-Get-Her he championed all of her causes. He was her hero- her Black Knight for although there had been others in his distant past he wanted to ensure that this thing they had found would last; he would always have to remember the things he had done To-Get-Her IN THEIR PAST.

He prayed that his love for her and her love for him would last. She would be his one and only true love that had been promised in lines of poetic verse; the kind of love that would satisfy both of their thirst.

So in the magic of a kiss they were both reborn –TOGETHER- in bliss.
