To Extra-Terrestrial Lands Poem by Palitha Ranatunge

To Extra-Terrestrial Lands

Rating: 5.0

Tears fell on my collar
Made of starched white linen
Having read your comments
On me and my past endeavors
Is it nothing but the truth?

Fears of years slinging all over
My mortal body, are gone?
Why heart is sad and frozen
Like a bread crumb dull
And crunched in a winter storm,

They sigh, my mentors
My bullies and my companions
All hectic travels we had together
Having no power to cheat
And wink at the audience.

I am the lonely traveler
To extra-terrestrial lands
Which is privileged to us
Worn out foot soldiers
Un-commissioned in
Battles of life.

Dear Hermes
My fake friend and messenger
Care taker of my weary soul,
Shooting it along, far and far
Away clouds over the shadows
Of a green water world.
