To My Son Poem by Palitha Ranatunge

To My Son

Let me humbly step down from our journey
I can not let you carry my burden
When I am blissful at all my life's irony.

You can not take my sack for not it is heavy
Though the wisdom is laid underneath hidden
Let me humbly step down from our journey.

My blood, my genes but we two are vary
Don't be dismal for it makes your heart soften,
Let me humbly step down from our journey.

I can not give at this hour my legacy
Its seeds planted well within to be ripen
Let me humbly step down from our journey.

Do not fear that I am helpless and weary
Let me face it with a heart of a titan
Let me humbly step down from our journey.

It's a pity that a human can not take away
One's repenting sorrows making them unknown
Let me humbly step down from our journey
When I am blissful at all my life's irony.
