To Be A Human Poem by Miss Grace

To Be A Human

Rating: 5.0

A human,
The most wonderful creation of nature,
Is it as wonderful
As we all think?

On the uneven rigid social rules,
Lie the foundation
The foundation of our civilization
The foundation of our future

Judgemental beings
Biting each other's head in face
And each other's reputation at back
Indeed a true human nature.

Equality became a dream
And for many feminism became a way
For gaining popularity
Rather than solving the problems existing

A free, democratic country they say,
How are we free if we are tied with
Our own prejudiced beliefs
Forcing each other into mold of perfection

Not all are allowed to be
What they dream, what they are
All misunderstood and wronged
All are judged

Differentiating each other on basis
Of what's good and bad
On the colour white and black
Forgetting grey is a colur to be loved

If this is what it likes to be a human
Where the good is more of a
Hypocrite than black
White has become a tainted color

I'd rather become Devil in such a case
Atleast I will be seen for what I am
I prefer being a wandering ghost
Death becomes comforting than life

Out of all thingsI have been called
Many have hurt me
But the one that wounded me
Was me being called a true human.

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

A poem forcing the reader to lots of introspection. A myriad of questions. The what's, why's and how's need to be answered. For our own sake.

2) it is the remains of the savage instinct in the humans that take pleasure in hurting others " But one that wounded me Was me being called a true human." these words are so sharp that they hurt the readers' conscience

But one that wounded me was me being called a true human.....the intensity of the expression needs to be weighed!

4' I add this poem to MyFavouritePoems to remind me for a revisit. And FIVE STARS, of course, although I want to give a million

3) when you say ‘ White has become a tainted color' you negate the image of peace, piety and love associated with the colour. The entire edifice of falsehood is demolished in one stroke dear poet. Wonderful. Loved it.
