To A Fly Of The Land

Rating: 5.0

a personal prayer, an excuse and a warning

On this the land
On which I swat
you steward of the land
On which I squat
Forgive me my trespasses.

I acknowledge my failings:
I swat flies on railings.

Keep out of my way
Don't lose your glasses
Don't give me cause
To go to swat classes.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I recite the 'prayer' each time I go to slaughter a fly.
I then meditate upon my nature.
I then say, 'It was your own fault! Your kind can be thankful I'm not better at it! '

lol I actually found this to be quiet funny and also catchy. I believe the premise is about being careful. Am I right/

It may sound mad, but to kill a thing without a thought for the life within would be to some acceptable, but to others sin. While some would say man was gifted the world, and his alone to clear his way without conscience, with impunity. For others, when we move things from our path, like swatting to remove annoyance, reminds us in that choice that all alive should be recognised, either with or without voice.
