Times Long Ago Poem by Colin Ian Jeffery

Times Long Ago

Time long ago
All seemed magical and pure
Joyful and abundant
Days of fun and laughter
Love inspiring the heart.

Boyhood spent in sunshine
Summers never ending
Running free through woods
With lifelong friends
Becoming men tall and strong.

Times long ago
With lover awe-inspiring
Enthroned within the heart
Precious to the soul
Knowing time would not deny us.

Old age has slowed me
Weakened body
But not the heart
Enraptured with soulmate's love
Making life's trials worthwhile.

Lovely. Natural progression. Each to his fate
