Time Poem by Thomas Ware

Time

Ashes to ashes,
Dust to dust.
People end in gashes,
Iron ends in rust.

Who are we,
To escape,
The ravages of time?

Empires fall
Emperors bawl.
Kingdoms die,
Kings cry.

For who are we,
To escape,
The ravages of time?

Evil reigns,
Till good prevails.
But good goes down in pain,

For who are we,
To escape,
The ravages of time?

A leader leads a great campaign,
But his army,
Meets its bane.

For who are we,
To escape,
The ravages of time?

Humans always try to make,
Something that'll last.
But eventually,
It always just,
Goes down in blood and ash.

For who are we,
To escape,
The ravages of time?

Mountain smasher,
Ocean drier,
Victim slasher,
Demon fire.

Who are we,
To escape,
The ravages of time?

Ashes to ashes,
Dust to dust.
People end in gashes,
Iron ends in rust.

For who are we,
To escape,
The ravages of time?
