Thunderstorm Poem by Kurt Beard

Thunderstorm

The clouds build onto the darkness
Crowding out the dawn of the sun
Thunder rolls from far off lighting
Reaching out to break the silence
The flash of anticipation streaks across the sky
A momentary golden glow surging through the air
The air thickens as dryness builds into rain
Still blooms into the bustle of wind
Pushing through the trees
Rustling and pushing against the earth
The silent stillness becomes the rushing rain

Clouds broadcast their supremacy
Thunder sounds its victory
lightning reveals its kingship
Rain covers its kingdom

The stillness fights back
The rays of the sun suppress the clouds
The chirp of the birds silences the thunder
The streaks of sun dim the lightning
The warmth of the day reveals the green

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
It stormed today. It took 2 hours for the storm to arrive. It sat at a short distance and I could hear the thunder and see the lightning all morning. Eventually it rained if just for a moment and was done.
