Through The Looking Glass Poem by Raymond Yaris

Through The Looking Glass

in a hospital, you're expectin a new member of your family..
or someone else's...
you wait for the time when the curtain windows to open,
for the nurse to call your group to catch the first glimpse of the baby...
then all of you rush in and work your way in to press your noses against the glass window...
then you see what you want to see... a new life... a new bouncing family member...
so refreshing... then all through his life he or she also repeats the same thing...
lining up and pressing his/her nose against a glass window...
whether to pay up bills... enroll... watch movies...
while riding a car, a bus, taxi or whatever... its almost always through a glass window...
hmmmmmmmmm... then something happens... either naturally or by accident...
he or she passes away... then its your family's turn again... to see...
in the same glass window... lookin at while he\she's lying down...
eyes closed... much like the same way we entered this earth...
lying down and sleeping... but this time its for good...

glass panes... glass pains...
