THROUGH THE EYES OF THE GODS
Through that eye, bright and glistening clear
I see the dark and vile ardour of your soul
Your covert scheme and hidden spite
Your odium, your purposing, I know the whole
I stop and bid thee well despite.
From that perch beyond the sparrow’s dare
Your devious prowl is lucid bare to me
Your glee at my plunge and more than this
At twilight beneath the fuzzy moonlight beam
A forehand know and feel your traitorous kiss.
Through the concealed eyes of the cosmic gods
Into the brume of eventide’s groggy eremite
I see your timid spite and catch your argot words
Above and beyond the giant daystar lit
I see yet love you through the sagely eyes of the gods
