Three Small Poems Poem by Ananta Madhavan

Three Small Poems

1. Fooling Around

Round and round we went and found
That we were only roaming round,
But never ever coming back
To where we started from, alack!

Circumlocution for you, may be,
Worry-go-round for me.

2. Squired

A square is a cage with two big exits -
Up and down.
I am squired.

3. Human Biped

He, she, even the toddler were well aware
That crossing the street is a hazard unshared,
Even when the signal shows a diagram biped in green.
To take a short cut across the street
Could mean a life is cut short. Traffic zebras are extinct.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I am for 'a fewness of words'; many modern poems could be
shorter. Pity English lacks a term for the short poem,
a 'poem-let', a form shorter than the sonnet, terse, suggestive,
descriptive and locally, temporally a fair description.
I have posted a few brevities in PH, so hospitable and
broad-minded. I am gratified that I will not take much of your time
when you open this page. AM
