This Much I Know Poem by Lora Colon

This Much I Know

Rating: 5.0

Soon the sun will set in this valley
Where I've roamed for many a year,
So many questions left unanswered,
So many answers remain unclear;
And others will ask what has been asked before,
But this much I know: I'll ask no more

I cannot say that I'll miss this Earth
That censured me at every turn;
Too often were tearful lessons laid
On a heart that was too slow to learn,
And many more tears will flood misery's shore,
But this much I know: I'll cry no more

And as for love that hid from my view -
Come, emerge from your hiding place!
I'll no longer seek your charity,
Supplication was my heart's disgrace;
Surely, more lonely hearts will plead at your door,
But this much I know: I'll beg no more

This frame will dissolve into the soil
To nourish the worms and green things,
And flowers and birds will take delight,
Uncomprehending the gifts death brings;
And life will continue the same as before,
But this much I know: I'll be no more

Your conclusions are just the beginning, If my faith has meaning at all, You that think your life's in its last inning? Prepare to be caught when you fall! (Of course I could be wrong? !)

Ah! This is the poet I have known and loved for many a year, opinionated, volatile, unapologetic, and brave, a truly lovely person, even though the world has not always been kind to her and at times she has doubted my love (and God's love as well!) And, of course, she is always an inspiration! If I would save her from her darkest moods (what a fantasy) , does that make me less of a friend? I too have dark moments as well... Save me Lora, save me! I definitely feel a new Echo Poem coming on! It's Godzilla vs King Kong! I hope this comment makes you laugh! : -) If not a lover and friend, I certainly admire you for whatever that's worth. Put that in your pipe and smoke it dear poet! Ha!

Well we know King Kong is a male don't we? ? ? ? Could Godzilla be a male too? I don't think so. God and women are always the ones who Must Be Obeyed? But I've always been ambidextrous so you choose. OK. Besides however upset Godzilla and King Kong get with each other, I don't think either one has ever died in a battle with the other.? ? ? There's has got to be wiggle room left for a sequel? Right?

Godzilla and King Kong - two foes, bent on annihilating each other. I am neither of the two. My strength comes from my convictions, and is used solely to get me through this life, not to engage in battle over issues that can be neither proven nor disproven. Pound your chest, or breathe your terrifying fire my way, (whichever role you decide to play) , but I will survive, and so will you. Bring on your Echo poem - I am always eager to catch a glimpse of your creativity, to probe your mind and see what's lurking in those dark corners. I am continually sweeping the dark corners of my own mind, like an exterminator trying to rid myself of unwanted vermin, only to find my doubts and fears reproducing at an alarming rate, never to be completely eradicated. And so I deal with them in my own way. I write. And though I don't smoke, I just may bring my grandfather's old meerschaum out of the attic, pack it with your admiration for me, light it, and let the smoke encircle and intoxicate me. I'm always eager for a new experience!
