This Is Christmas Poem by Colin Burger

This Is Christmas

Children wake late in the morn
Their parents downstairs at the table
Outside snow falls lightly, silently, peacefully
The children look out the window
A vibrant, joyous glee overtakes them when they see
The snow covering the ground
Racing downstairs they go
Pulling on their boots
Out into the snow they run
Calling to their friends next door

While they play their parents stay in
Cleaning, baking cookies, decorating
Holiday music plays in the background
While the mother singing over a hot oven
The father carries the tree inside
Placing it in the window for all to see
Through the window they can see
Their children and friends
Smiles on their faces

Dinner time comes
They children run in from the yard
Odors of chicken and mashed potatoes fill the air
All sit down for a quiet family dinner
Grace is said and they dig in
Plenty for all they eat well tonight

This is Christmas
A time for happiness and joy
And time spent with the family
Tis not about gifts or money
Tis a time of friends and family
A time of thanks and happiness
This is Christmas
This is real
