They Speak English Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

They Speak English

They speak English

Unlike them
I have tongue
Everything I define
(In details, very fine)

They caught me like beaver
Skinned me, toe to head
And took me to school
They took my spirits
And enforced; the
“Our God”.

In their courts and their laws
They claim we are dumb.

Screw English
Look at this:
Wright
Write
Right
Rite

And mostly stolen.
