They Came Before Us Poem by Marilyn Lott

They Came Before Us

Rating: 5.0

Do you ever sit and wonder
About the folks that came
From parts unknown
To find new land
A place that wasn't tame
Couples young
And full of dreams
They didn't realize
The dangers that were up ahead
A shocking new surprise
Sometimes new babies died
Because no care was near
So many horrors lurking
So many things to fear
So when you trod the roads ahead
Remember them my friend
And what they sacrificed for you
And all your blood and kin.
