These Streets Poem by damion willis

These Streets

Rating: 4.8

Back in the past I thougth these streets was for me
but these streets is mean now I have no choice but
to go back to my dream that’s to be a writer of poetry
or lyrics cause when I was on the street I didn’t fear it
none of the gangs, drugs, and dying now I open my
eyes with no tears but I’m cryin cause of how I used
to be defiant

Now I got a question. What make these streets better than
my home and school? well I’ll tell you, you learn at a
faster pace always on the run so you know you stay I
shape, faster money sellin drugs to get food on a plate
never have to worry about the time getting late unless
you a female worring about yo legs getting open Rapist
not out there you hoping

Now to reverse the question it takes 14 years to learn in
school which is longer than the streets but at least for
school there’s a chance you can learn in peace.

Free or reduce you can eat in class you might get cold,
It beats being outside where there’s no heat when you got
all types of heat

Home and school you got a roof. outside you got a cloud
now back in the past I thought these streets was for me but
I’ll stay at home and school and live up to my dreams now
I realize poetry and lyics is for me!

Great Job! this one is by far my favorite! i think i understand what you mean, sure we don't have gangs here, but we've sure got the other stuff, and let me tell you it sucks, i've kinda done the same thing, i want to be a writer, but you're still better than me! really great job, keep it up, you're very talented! ~Kaily
